Local Business Spotlight: Hazel Hill Chocolates

Ever since Denise posted Being an Intentional Topekan, I’ve really tried to follow her lead and make a concerted effort to shop local. This weekend Brandon and I stopped by Hazel Hill Chocolates - a homemade chocolate shop located downtown at 7th and Kansas.

One step in the shop, and I immediately felt like a kid again, staring wide-eyed at all of the beautiful handmade candies neatly displayed in cases all over the shop. My husband and I spent our first 10 minutes in the store trying to take in everything Hazel Hill has to offer – a large variety of truffles, hills, stacks, clusters and fudges, various chocolate dipped fruits, and hand-dipped caramel apples. We chatted with store owners, Nick and Terri Xidis, and slowly started making some selections.

We decided to share a Snickers-dipped caramel apple, and each selected a truffle (Amaretto for me and Cappacino for Brandon), and then threw in a haystack for good measure. Everything was so delicious. But, I have to say the Snickers apple is really over-the-top! I’m going to have to make another trip next weekend … if I can last that long.

I would highly recommend Hazel Hill to anyone!

Hmmm…. Hazel Hill chocolates… while I’ve not made it into the shop (it’s going on my list!), I’ve reaped the benefit of others going and bringing back the goodies!

Oh yeah Hazel Hill is awesome! Everything I get there is delicious. Even the Hazel Hills. Hot outside try their frozen cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a stick! Do i really need to say anymore!

I have only heard great things about Hazel Hill. That is on the list of places to go to. Depending upon how big the space is, Hazel Hill may be a cool place to have local artists display their work. Unless, they do this already

They have shown artwork in the past (mine at least), and it sold very well. They don’t have a ton of wall space, but enough for a couple of nice-sized paintings.

I have not heard of this place. Being a major fan of candy, I will be checking this place out.

I love Hazel Hill Chocolates! Every time I visit… I go for the chocolate dipped strawberries. They also have the best sugar free chocolates selection around.

Hazel Hill has great candy. Don’t have a lot of money? For one dollar you can get a chocolate, vanilla, or lemon ‘Thing’. Yes, that’s the name - Thing. They are a very moist, rich cake-like center covered with milk or white chocolate. Definitely worth the trip. Today they were giving out free samples of chocolate peanut butter fudge. Excellent!

I’ve never tried a “Thing” … sounds like I need to make a trip to Hazel Hill.
Thanks for sharing Susan!

Try a Snickers apple — pure heaven! A word of caution though — they are big and rich, so you may want to share one with a buddy. I can’t believe this hasn’t been mentioned yet — your’re missing out, people!!!
