Grand Re-Opening

The Topeka Blvd bridge construction is complete! From afar, the bridge has beautiful touches. The area at SW 1st & Topeka (”my side” of the bridge) looks completely new. There are celebration plans for tomorrow afternoon and will officially open on Monday. I know the businesses that have been affected by the construction will surely be celebrating themselves.

The construction was a ‘have-to’ project because it was literally starting to fall down. My hope is that the renovation of this area grows throughout the rest of the city… before they become ‘have-to’ projects.   Just like when you finish one project in your house, you can see all of the other areas that need fixing.  And just in this way, we’ll have to take a look at the most-needed areas and the ones that we can afford :) to take of next.

The re-opening of the Topeka Boulevard Bridge will be huge for the local businesses. I have driven by it in the past few weeks and can’t believe the transformation. I am pleased that there is a signal at 1st Street, and love the look of the bridge itself. The overhead clocks just add to it. I am with you, Denise; I hope this encourages other renovation projects. I wish I was able to attend the celebration tomorrow, but look forward to driving over the new bridge in 1 week on my way to church.

We’re planning on going to the celebration - I can’t wait to see it up close!
I think it was a brilliant move to add the architectural detail and really pimp out the style, instead of just building a boring old bridge. Classy.

Maybe we could meet up to walk across the bridge?
I also like the look of the overhead stuff, very nice indeed.
Good for Topeka!

If every bridge into Topeka looked like this one… Topeka would truly have the look of a great place to visit.
